While seeking to treat low back pain caused by degenerative intervertebral discs (IVDs), researchers at the University of Oxford conducted a simulation-based feasibility study using high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to mechanically fractionate degenerating tissue in the IVD, remove it with a fine needle, and replace it with an injectable biomaterial that restores normal physiologic function. Magnetic-resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound Treatment of Non-spinal Osteoid Osteoma in Children: Multicentre Experience

Could focused ultrasound replace radiofrequency ablation as the first-line treatment for children with osteoid osteoma?
