The Foundation strives to cultivate the next generation of scientists working in the field of focused ultrasound. We are proud to announce that three such young researchers, Guillaume Maimbourg, Sarah Brüningk, and Amirah Aly, have earned awards for their work. Meanwhile, a former Foundation intern, Changzhu Jin, has earned his PhD.

Changzhu Jin

Changzhu Jin, a Foundation intern from 2015-2016, has passed his PhD defense at Jeju National University in Jeju-do, Korea defending “Ray based skull compensation in transcranial focused ultrasound.” Congratulations, Dr. Jin! Advisor: Dong-guk Paeng, PhD (Jeju National University).

Guillaume Maimbourg

Guillaume Maimbourg, another former Foundation intern from 2015-2016, was awarded the best student poster at ISTU 2017 in Nanjing, China for “Non Invasive High Frequency Transcranial Focusing with a Single Element Transducer: Experimental Validation of Adaptative Focusing through Human Skulls with a 3D Printed Acoustic Lens.” Advisor: Jean-François Aubry, PhD, (L’Institut Langevin).

Also at ISTU, Ayumu Ishijima was awarded the best oral presentation, and Sarah Brüningk, an intern at the ICR Focused Ultrasound Center of Excellence, won the Nadine Barry award, given to the outstanding overall student presentation.
