Project: FUS Partners Program

George smProject Goal & Overview
This summer, I worked on the recently launched FUS Partners Program. With the ultimate goal of accelerating the development and adoption of focused ultrasound technology, the program seeks to initiate the consolidation process of the focused ultrasound industry, through identifying key investors and connecting them with the proper manufacturers. As a result, my project centered on connecting with manufacturers and investors to gather pertinent information on their key contacts, sales, and scale of operation.

Results/Findings/Outcome
The results of my project are three-fold. First, I created a substantially updated Salesforce record for focused ultrasound manufacturers. Secondly, I developed a variety of informational spreadsheets, including a list of investor contacts, investing histories, and a compilation of the largest mergers and acquisitions for medical device manufacturers. I also initiated a survey of manufacturer-specific information in order to better understand the growth of the market for focused ultrasound.

Share some thoughts on your experience as a Foundation intern.
My experience as a Foundation intern was equally informative as it was rewarding. The Foundation staff was always more than happy to help and answer any question, resulting in a constant, yet productive learning experience. Moreover, the opportunity to work for a foundation with such a tremendous potential for saving and improving lives was never lost on me, constantly driving the Foundation staff and myself to raise the awareness of this technology and establish focused ultrasound as a standard of medical care.

Why were you interested in working for the Foundation?
I initially learned about the Focused Ultrasound Foundation in a case study from a social entrepreneurship class at the University of Virginia. Following my initial awe at the potential medical implications of focused ultrasound technology, I seized the opportunity to work for a Foundation which measures its success in improving and saving lives. I submitted my resume the following day.
