Dong-Guk Paeng

Dong-Guk Paeng, PhD, is a Professor in the department of Ocean System Engineering and in the interdisciplinary postgraduate Biomedical Engineering program at Jeju National University, Korea. He also serves as an ambassador of the Foundation in Asia, cultivating relationships with laboratory and clinical research sites, commercial treatment sites and manufacturers throughout the region.

Dong-Guk was the first Merkin Fellow at the Foundation from 2015-2016, during which he was jointly appointed as an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Virginia. In 2007, he spent a sabbatical year at Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California, and he has experience as a biomedical engineering research associate. Dong-Guk received his BS and MS degrees in Earth and Marine Sciences from Hanyang University in Korea. He earned another MS degree in Ocean Engineering from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a PhD in Acoustics from The Pennsylvania State University.
