Frédéric Padilla, PhD, joined the Foundation in August 2017 as a Richard Merkin Visiting Scholar. He is an associate professor at the Laboratory of Therapeutic Applications of Ultrasound (LabTAU) in Lyon, France, with a current appointment as a Visiting Professor at the University of Virginia’s Department of Radiation Oncology. In the past, Frederic has been a Fulbright Fellow at Boston University and a visiting Professor at the University of Michigan.
Frédéric is a physicist and biomedical engineer by training. His research at the Foundation focuses on developing therapeutic ultrasound strategies to trigger an immune response and to improve the response to immunotherapies in breast and pancreatic cancer models; promoting brain tumor response by combining radiosurgery with focused ultrasound; and working closely with the technical team on the enhancement of the focused ultrasound treatment envelope for brain applications.
